Born on January 9, 1974, Indian actor, director, screenwriter, playback singer, producer, and television host Farhan Akhtar is best known for movies ‘Rock On!!’ (2008), ‘Luck By Chance’ (2009), ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ (2010), ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ (2011), ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ (2013), and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ (2015). Son of Indian poet, lyricist, and screenwriter Javed Akhtar and actor Honey Irani, Akhtar made his Bollywood debut as an assistant director at the age of 17 years, with Yash Chopra’s ‘Lamhe’ (1991). After establishing his production company named Excel Entertainment in 1999 along with Indian film producer Ritesh Sidhwani, he made his directorial debut with ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ in 2001. As of 2021, he has directed at least six Bollywood movies. He made his acting debut with ‘Rock On.’ As of 2021, he has appeared in at least 15 Bollywood movies. He is the brother of Indian film director Zoya Akhtar, and is the cousin of Farah Khan and Sajid Khan. And grandson of Urdu poet Jan Nisar Akhtar, and great-grandson of poet Muztar Khairabadi. He married British hairstylist Adhuna Bhabani in 2000 but the couple separated in 2016. The duo has two daughters. He is in a relationship with VJ Shibani Dandekar since 2018. He is the recipient of four Filmfare Awards and two National Awards.
